LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN

 AmCham Jordan Members and Friends

I would like to thank all of you who have given the AmCham team positive feedback and valuable comments on the AmCham Weekly News & Economic Bulletin.  It is because of your input, this vital and timely publication is developing and spreading.

As I share with you this week's bulletin, I am pleased to announce that AmCham Jordan, in cooperation with US based Segora & IP3 will be hosting USAID's first Regional Business Initiative event from Dec 14 - 16, 2010. This initiative is design to build direct commercial linkages between Iraqi, Jordanian and Palestinian companies in the region and to drive growth by empowering small and medium businesses. All, within the framework of a larger project that will address policy challenges to regional commercial cooperation across the three countries and territories.  The AmCham board and staff are excited about this project and I invite you all to be directly involved in it.  You will receive more information from the AmCham team on how to partake in it in the next few days. 

I am also pleased to announce a policy dialogue with H.E. Mr. Khaled Irani, Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Minister of Environment on the planned regulatory changes to the hydrocarbon sector.  The Chamber will host His Excellency at an executive dinner on Wed., Nov 10 at the Amman Marriott Hotel. 

I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events and to receiving your comments and suggestions on how can continue to grow the Chamber.

Mustafa, CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, underlined the importance of protecting IPR in creating a business-friendly climate at the First Regional Conference for IPR & Cyber Crimes last week. The two-day conference was organised by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) in cooperation with Jordan's National Library and Adobe Systems.
