
Mohammed Bataineh holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Texas. After working with Bechtel Corporation and Jafar Tukan Architects & Engineers in Amman, Mr. Bataineh founded his own company in 1982 and went on to acquire vast experience ranging from design and development to manufacturing interior building materials to supplying turnkey jobs throughout the Middle East & North Africa.
Mr. Bataineh has been responsible for procuring, planning, managing and in some cases executing a variety of projects including border posts, seaports, commercial centers, hotels, schools, standby power centers, public buildings and housing projects.
In 1995 he led an international team of top developers and investors and produced a master economic development plan for the Jordan Rift Valley multi-modal industrial corridor from the Gulf of Aqaba to the Dead Sea. The joint venture group reported to His Majesty the late King Hussein and received the support of all relevant parties.
From 1998 to date, Mohammed Bataineh continued to work towards promoting Jordan and the region for international investment and development. This included project appraisal, site identification, vision audit, charette management, fundraising, project team hiring and leadership. Projects included the development of Aqaba Special Economic Zone in Jordan and other projects ranging from port developments in Oman to multipurpose developments in the Middle East, the Far East and Europe.
In 2000 Mr. Bataineh became part of a team assembled by order of His Majesty King Abdullah II to come up with a vision and plan for developing the Aqaba Region. The plan formed the basis of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) – an integrated development project adopted today.
Mr. Bataineh is the current Chairman and CEO of AgriJordan and CEO of BADR Developments both companies are part of the Yatagan Consortium. Established in 2009 between BADR Investments, Chescor Capital, maisam architects & engineers and Parsons Brinckerhoff as well as a number of regional and international companies, the Yatagan Consortium takes a lead on projects focused on the critical nexus of sustainable food, energy, and water in Jordan and the region. The consortium has worked on the development of the plan for the Jordan Red Sea Dead Sea Conveyance System (now the Jordan Red Sea Project) since the mid-1990s and submitted an official bid after receiving pre-qualification in 2011.
As Chairman and CEO of AgriJordan, Mr. Bataineh headed the initiative which aims to create a paradigm shift in the agricultural industry in Jordan. The company proved the concept by successfully running multiple pilot projects in the Jordan Valley and Highlands, using multi-span greenhouses, net-houses and an on-site grading and packing facility. AgriJordan is working on the roll-out phase by partnering with other farmers to create the shift necessary in the agricultural sector in Jordan.
At The 2009 World Economic Forum held at the Dead Sea, Jordan the Yatagan Consortium announced a new 100MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) station, one of the largest in the world, to be constructed in Ma’an southern Jordan. Mohammed Bataineh signed, on behalf of BADR Investments, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ma’an Development Company (MDC), for a 30-year renewable lease covering 200 hectares of land for the project. The consortium is also working on biofuel technologies in cooperation with leaders in the field worldwide.
Mr. Bataineh is a member of several business and professional organizations and is a founding member and Chairman of the Jordan American Business Association (JABA) the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan. He also sits on the boards of the Union Bank, the Jordan Career Education Foundation and the Jordan Investment Board (JIB).
